What Are Corporate Values?

Corporate values are the rules and ideas that the entire company identifies with. They help with decision-making, teamwork, and the journey towards common goals.

Why Are They Important?

Simply put, values determine the direction you want to take.

Company values are like a map that you look at when you need to find the right path.

They make it easier to make decisions about the company, communicate principles to customers and clients, and hire employees who might fit in with the team.

Don’t think that you can simply avoid values. If you don’t get actively involved, they will eventually create themselves. In most cases, however, they will not be the ones that will help your company’s reputation.

Now we get to the point. It is important to pay attention to company values, as they are an important part of our company culture. But here comes another but…

Not Everything Written is Reality

Imagine working in a manufacturing facility. After 5 years, a flyer suddenly appears in your hands: “Friendship, Honesty, and Equality.” Do you really think people will suddenly turn 180 degrees?

Corporate values are not things that you just write on a flyer and it’s yours. They have to be created within the company.

All departments should act based on the company’s values. For this to happen, the employee must see the same behavior from the management. Only then will everything start to make sense to him.

It’s the same with building a community. It has some values, goals, lifestyle, and behavior. If none of these exist, it will gradually begin to fall apart.

4 Tips for Creating Core Company Values

1. Share Your Vision

Answer these simple questions: “How will your company impact the world? Will it change someone’s life? How, to whom, and how will you benefit?”

Give your company a higher value. Show that the project makes sense and that people will want to be a part of it.

Your company values must support your vision. Come up with a sentence that perfectly captures it.

2. Look for Original Values

Yes, we all know that “openness, honesty, and friendliness” are very popular right now.

But will anyone believe it? These days, you’ll see similar promises everywhere. Companies take generic qualities and proudly put them under their name – mostly for show.

Your company is unique. It has different employees, products, and goals. So why should your values be the same as the false promises of many corporate companies?

Don’t hide behind vague terms that ultimately reveal nothing about the company.

3. Strive for Simplicity and Comprehensibility

There is no point in having complex, perfectly crafted values if no one can remember them. A short sheet of one-sentence bullet points will do just fine.

In everyday work life, it is easier to remember short summaries than paragraphs of text.

4. Develop Values Gradually

As your company grows, so may the number of tasks and people involved. There will come a time when your values no longer seem relevant enough to how the company operates.

Something may become more important to the company, and vice versa. So renovate and don’t forget to ask your employees for feedback.

Corporate values help in several different areas of management. They increase motivation, morale, advocacy, management of activities and employee behavior.

Current Trends in Corporate Values

1. Authenticity and Transparency

In 2025, the emphasis is on authenticity and open communication. Companies should not only declare their values, but above all live them and share real employee stories, which strengthens trust and attractiveness for potential candidates. We write about this in more detail in our regular January overview of trends for the coming year (in Czech only).

2. Personalization of the Candidate Experience

Modern technologies make it possible to personalize communication with job applicants. The use of CRM and ATS systems helps create a personalized approach from first contact to onboarding, which increases satisfaction and engagement of new employees.

3. Focus on Mental Health and Well-being

Taking care of employees’ mental well-being has become a key element of corporate culture. Offering programs to support well-being, such as work-life balance workshops or mental coaching, contributes to higher employee productivity and loyalty. We have personal experience with the Soulmio platform, for example.

4. Flexibility as Standard

Flexible working conditions, including hybrid work models and reduced working hours, are becoming the expected standard. Employees appreciate the opportunity to better balance work and personal life, which increases their satisfaction and productivity. Btw., today’s younger generation cannot do without at least partial home office.

5. ESG: Environmental and Social Responsibility

Sustainability and social responsibility are no longer just marketing tools, but key criteria when making employer decisions. Transparent communication about a company’s environmental and social activities strengthens its reputation and attracts value-driven talent.

Integrating these trends into corporate values and authentically implementing them in everyday practice will help companies not only attract and retain talented employees, but also strengthen their market position in 2025 and beyond.
